Subaru keyless access detects an enrolled fob near the door handles and unlocks automatically when you grip the handle. Push-button start requires the fob inside the cabin and the brake pressed. The system uses low-frequency antenna modules at each door and under the center console. Subaru's STARLINK safety and security platform integrates with the key system on newer models to enable remote start and vehicle location through the MySubaru app.

Subaru transponder chips use rolling-code encryption on all models with keyless access. The chip communicates with the immobilizer control module through an antenna ring positioned near the push-button start assembly.
