Current Jeep models including the Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, and Compass use the Uconnect-integrated smart key platform. The proximity fob uses rolling-code RF entry and a separate encrypted transponder chip for push-button start authorization. Programming requires Stellantis OBDII software to enroll the new fob in the Body Control Module. The Wrangler's doorless and topless configurations present antenna placement challenges not found on traditional enclosed vehicles.
The Jeep Wrangler's unique body style creates key considerations that other brands do not face. When the Wrangler is driven without doors, the door handle proximity antennas are removed with the doors.
